Chabad of Silver Spring was established in 2006 to provide a warm and welcoming home for Jewish families in Silver Spring. All of this work has been in service of Chabad’s mission to provide a home and point of connection for every Jewish resident and visitor to Silver Spring. Through its numerous programs and activities, Chabad is always seeking new ways to engage with Jews of all ages and backgrounds. Chabad’s active shul with daily services, its Hebrew School, adult learning opportunities, youth programming, and holiday celebrations make Chabad a center for Jewish life and learning in Silver Spring.
The Gan is committed to enriching Jewish life and learning for every child in our community. We believe that the earliest years of development are the most important for a child. Our classroom philosophy emphasizes independence, self-confidence, self-regulation, and a love of learning through a balance of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities.
We endeavor to impart a love for the beauty of our religion and culture. Students at The Gan learn about Jewish identity, belief, and practice in an immersive way throughout the day. They have hands-on experiences learning about Jewish values and the customs associated with Shabbat and all the Jewish holidays.
In 2022, The Gan expanded to its current facility at 9805 Dameron Drive. This space has proven to be the perfect environment for The Gan to grow to serve 120 children from close to 100 families.
One of the hallmarks of Chabad of Silver Spring’s activities is our vibrant summer camp program. Camp Gan Israel of Silver Spring serves hundreds of families and gives children meaningful and long lasting connections to Yiddishkeit. The excitement and fun of Camp Gan Israel stays with campers all year long!
Campers at CGI represent families from many backgrounds in Silver Spring. We are proud to be a place where every child’s neshama is given the opportunity to develop and shine. Our enriching programming, committed staff, and warm and loving environment help make camp a formative experience for every child. We are fortunate that Camp Gan Israel’s
Scholarship Fund ensures that no camper is turned away for financial reasons.
